Biography

David William Percival Holt was born at Newington in Surrey on the16th of January 1892, son of John Holt and his wife, Adeline Jones. ^[1]

In 1901 the family of seven children were living with their parents at East Ham in Essex where their father worked as a foreman in a tailoring enterprise. ^[2][3] Ten years later David was still at home, working as a tailor's improver and helping to support a lot more siblings. ^[4]

Research note

In the 1911 census David Holt aged 11 was living with her parents and family in Walthamstow, Essex. ^[5] (This census transcript records David with the name David Mary Holt and as daughter which is obviously incorrect.)
