Research Notes
Ancestry lists a daughter named Sarah Elizabeth Wheeler (1864-1917) for the couple but no evidence that she lived with the couple. Did they both pass after her death - perhaps prior to 1870?
With the child being born in 1864, I suspect their marriage date is closer to 1863. The Civil War was going on at this time - perhaps he died related to it.
Plus she is living with family in the 1860 census.
