Biography

Henry was born in 1770. He was the son of Henry Holtzclaw. He passed away in 1860. Henry married Sarah Shirley in Scott County, Kentucky. Henry and Sarah lived in Barren County, Kentucky and later moved to Jefferson County, Illinois where they are buried in the Old Union Cemetery Jefferson County, Illinois. This Henry appears to be the Henry Hottsclaw who served in 2 Regiment in the War of 1812; Thomas', Mounted, Kentucky Vols as a Private. and/or Henry Holsclaw who served with the 15 Ret;t, Slaughter;s Kentucky Militia as a Corporal. From Minutes of Dripping Springs... 1st Sat. Sept Sally Holsclaw given a letter of dismisson.....then a year later on 1st Sun Oct 1827, Henry Holtsclaw was "received by Recantation", and then given a Letter of Dismission.
