Cynthia was first married to Elias Calvin Ray who was killed in action March 23, 1862 at the Battle of Kernstown in the Civil War. Second husband was Henderson Dye (1843-1916).

Cynthia is buried in the Honaker/Ray Family Cemetery in Russell County, VA.
