John (age 20), son of Thomas Hood, married Emma Canham on 5 September 1867 in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England. Her father was John Canham.^[1]

In the 1871 census Emma (age 22) was with her 3 sons in Gorleston, Suffolk, England.^[2]

John died between 1871 and 1881, possibly:

Three Lives Lost by the Capsizing of a Boat.- The smack Water Lily, belonging to Mr. John Bates, of Yarmouth, has put into that port, with the loss of three hands. It appears that the deceased men were engaged in ferrying fish to the steamer on Sunday morning on their fishing grounds when the boat was capsized, and all three were drowned. Their names were John Hood, who leaves a wife and four children, and Walter Carman and James Carver, who were single men.
