Biography
Arthur was born in 1910. He was the son of Arthur Hooker and Lily Cutbush. His birth was registered in Brentford [1] In 1911 he was living with parents Arthur and Lillian in a 2 roomed apartment in Isleworth. Arthur was a Railway Clerk (Goods). [2]
In 1915 the family moved to Devon, possibly to get out of London during the War while Arthurs father was in the Army. After the war it appears his parents split up, as his father had a child with another woman in 1924.
On 25th August 1925, aged 15, Arthur got a job with the Railway Company as a Porter in Petersfield. He was living in Liphook, Hampshire and received 16 shillings a week. [3]
In 1932 Arthur married Alice Budd. The marriage was registered in Petersfield. [4] One child is registered as born in the area, John M Hooker (mother's maiden name Budd) registered in Midhurst in 1935. [5]
In 1939 Arthur and Alice (plus an unnamed child, probably John) were living in Midhurst. Arthur was a Railway Checker. [6]
Arthur died aged 85 in 1995. His death was registered in 'West Surrey' [7]
