Biography

Profession given as Pilot in 1849. Buried 30th Nov. 1854 in Holy Trinity. Bembridge.

Henrietta's parents were Robert and Charlotte Hookey. They had 5 children that I know of. Robert (b.1793) was a "mariner of Bembridge" at the time of the birth of his daughter Amelia in 1816. Sophia Jane Hookey was the eldest, born in 1814. Henrietta was the youngest, born in 1823.

Robert was the son of Robert (b. 1757) and Elizabeth Hookey who had 8 children in Brading, IoW. He was also a mariner.

Robert (b.1757) was the son of William Hookey (b.1725) and Elizabeth. William was a blacksmith of Brading and a number of his sons carried on the blacksmith's trade in different villages in the IoW. William's son Thomas (b.1763) was my ancestor and also a blacksmith. One of Thomas's sons, John, moved to Brook where he set up a smithy which carried on in the family for nearly 200 years, including my grandfather Thomas (1868-1924) who was also a farmer and lifeboat coxswain.
