Biography

Sarah (Hooks) Oldham is a part of US Black heritage.

Sarah Hooks, daughter of Gilbert Hooks and Bell Blair, was born in 1893. In 1915, she married Pearlie Kezie.^[1] She had several children with her second husband, Gus Oldham, whom she married in 1944.^[2]

She died in 1983.

Obituary

Sarah Hooks Oldham, 89, of 1200 Broad St., died at 8:15 a.m. Saturday at her home after a long illness.

A native of Christian County, she was born Aug. 23, 1893, the daughter of the late Gilbert and Bell Blair Hooks.

Her husband, Gus Oldham, died in 1977.

Survivors include two sons, Gus D. of Chicago Heights, Ill., and James H. Oldham, Hopkinsville; three daughters, Maggie Lean Irons, Chicago Heights, and Margaret Oldham and Rosa Watkins, both of Hopkinsville; one stepson, Louis T. Oldham, Louisville; one stepdaughter, Dorothy Furr, Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, Pete and Ben Hooks, Chicago Heights, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
