Richard L. Hookway Sr., husband of Virginia V. (Bowen) Hookway, of Strasburg, PA, formerly of Limerick, PA, died early Friday morning, November 9, 2012[1] in the Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster, PA.
Born in Pottstown, PA, he was a son of the late Rueben H. and Mary A. (Yost) Hookway. Mr. Hookway attended the Royersford High School. A veteran, Mr. Hookway served for the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for over 37 years for Superior Tube in Collegeville before retiring in 1993. He was an active member of the Limerick Historical Society. Mr. Hookway was also an avid Phillies, Eagles and Notre Dame fan. He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Limerick, PA, and more recently attended the Wesley United Methodist Church in Strasburg.
In addition to his wife of 57 years, Mr. Hookway is survived by two children,; three siblings, five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hookway was predeceased by one daughter, Debbie M. Hookway-Steiner, and three siblings, Rueben James "Sonny" Hookway, Doris Crater and Earl Hookway[2]
