Martha Hooley was born about 1800. in Draycott, and baptised in Wilne. She was a daughter of John Hooley and his wife, Jane [nee Smedley] .She married William Astle at Wilne in August 1825 their wedding being witnessed by Joseph Astle and Sarah Hooley [presumably Martha's younger sister qv]. Martha bore some seven children between 1826 and 1845, died aged 81 in 1881, and was buried in Wilne Churchyard. One of Martha Hooley's descendants, Mary Eunice Platts, married another blood- relative, Edgar Hooley, in 1901 This profile is a collaborative work-in-progress.
