Francis Hooley son of Joshua and Hannah [nee Unknown] Hooley was born at Bugsworth (now Buxworth), Derbyshire in 1841[1]
He began working life as a cotton weaver, but became a coal miner, living at Beard Offerset in 1881 with his wife Hannah [Unknown] whom he had married, at Hayfield, in 1863.

Marriage
Francis Hooley married Hannah Hibbert on 25 October 1863 at St. Mary’s, Disley, Cheshire (now Derbyshire)[5]; the marriage was, however, registered in Hayfield, Derbyshire[6]. Hannah and her family were also residing in Mellor, Derbyshire at the time of the 1861 Census[7]
