Joseph Hooley , baptised in 1688, in Polesworth, Warwickshire, was the first son of Henry and Ann [Shilton] Hooley who were to return to the village of Wollaton. where they had married, not far from Nottingham. Joseph married twice - to two ladies who shared similar surnames and might have been related : as of now, we do not know. His first wife was Mary Towle whom he married at Wollaton; the second, Sarah Tole, he married at South Wingfield in 1740.
Joseph died about 1765.
He appears to have been a Husbandman by profession, and acted as Churchwarden of Wollaton between the years of 1714 and 1715, and between 1736 and 1737.
George Holey [sic] was Churchwarden in Wollaton in 1743.
