Biography

I like the collaborative nature of Wikitree. Its good fun and there are great people here! Every profile I own I create manually as I have found using GEDCOMs created errors, messy profiles and duplicates.

Research Interests

My number one brickwall to bust through is the parentage of my ancestor William Green. The only hope for solving these mysteries is DNA. I am researching the early inhabitants of NSW by the surnames of Green and Dillon in the meantime since I am hoping to narrow the possibilities. If you happen to be interested in early Australian convict and settler families by the surname DILLON and its variants, you have come to the right place!!  :-)

If you are looking at this profile because you are interested in the Pogson, Freeman and Milward families of St Kitts & Nevis, please get in touch. I have done a lot of research about them. Another dear wish would be to find a DNA connection to these families - at the moment I am reliant on genealogical records.

I am descended from families who lived in the area of Watten, Bower and Lyth in Caithness. I'm thinking about a mini-place study for this area to try to untangle the different families who lived there.

Finally, I am doing a one name study of the surname HOOLIHAN in an effort to find out more about my Irish ancestors - another well of mystery.

Autosomal DNA Successes

I have had good success with autosomal DNA - my descendancy from Thomas Reeder; John Munro and Annie McDonald; from Robert Jeffery and Sarah Craze; from Thomas Coath and Elizabeth Parkin; and from William Green and Catherine Garvey have been satisfactorily confirmed with multiple third, fourth and fifth cousin matches.

Hello, I was so happy to see a third child for Eliphaz Shelton (Hudson) appear in my feed this morning. I'm 99.9999% sure that my great-great grandfather, Robert Shelton, is the son of Claiborne (aka Clabourn) Shelton, but I haven't posted the connection because I've not yet found the hard evidence (though I have found some tantalizingly suggestive tidbits and maddening hints of lost documents)... I'm happy to "meet" another (possible) distant relative! :)

Hi Leigh, do you by any chance have Hendy 's in your family tree? I notice you were working on some bios and had to ask. I've never done a name study and have no idea where to start but it would be fun to do one if you're interested. I gather there was a Hendy that went down on the Titanic. His widow and children lived in Southampton. Would be fun to find out if we're related...

Hi,

I see there are two Lambeth, London categories. One has only one profile under it. (Category: Lambeth, Greater London, England)

I presume that the correct one is Lambeth, London? thanks Lianne

Hi Leigh, I see you are the person looking after the Greater London categorisation. I have a few profiles, not categorised, as I do not know the areas well, and don't want to make a mistake. My profiles were born and lived in Clapham, which is/was in the Wandsworth registration district. Should I add Clapham as a new category? or is it covered under Wandsworth London? Thanks, Lianne
