Biography
There are two or more Stephen Hoopers living in New Zealand - similar age - and at some time they all worked as Hairdressers.
Help is required from each branch to verify information... and more important to see if they were cousins.

May 1874. Mr Hooper has a Barber shop in Ridgway Street, Wanganui
Oct 1874 & again - S Hooper…Rifle Ass. competitions DEC 1874 - Hairdresser Mr HOOPER has set up business in MARTON
Stephen purchased 1211 acres of land in Wanganui from before 1875 to after 1882. he paid one pound per acre.
At the same time as running this farm he worked as a Hairdresser in Wanganui. His address is given as Ridgway Street, Wanganui.
Over many years he held the licences for the Patea Inn (1893); Imperial Hotel, New Plymouth. In later years his occupation is given as 'gentleman".
In 1918 he made a public donation to a Catholic fund for the "Taranaki Hut"
Died aged 90 Buried Te Henui Cemetery, New Plymouth
