Margery was born in 1918. She was the daughter of Samuel Hoopes and Rebecca Minchin.
At the age of two she and her family emigrated from New Zealand to the United States, arriving in San Francisco on 4 November 1920, on the Ship Marama. Her father was born in America.
Census 1930: Living with his parents and three younger siblings in Eureka, Humboldt, California, United States. Aged 11.
She served in the US Army in World War II.
She married Vernon C Carson. They were divorced in January 1967.
Margery appeared to have married numerous times.
She died in 2004.
