Biography

The record on Jacob and Jemima's descendants is a bit cloudy. Jacob's will names (second) wife Polly and children Matthias, Martin, Elizabeth Rawling, Henry, and Julius. However, a lawsuit was brought by other children regarding the estate settlement. This suit named Henry, Ephraim, Samuel and Ann Bingham, William G. and Mary Bingham, Christopher, and Simeon.

17 Jun 1799 - Jacob Hoover marries Jemima Broyles with Christopher Hoover as security.[1]

1810 - Jacob is listed in the Rutherford Co., Tenn., census and is living next door to father-in-law Matthias Briles. They are living near "Hoover's Gap".[2]

1818 - Jacob Hoover is in debt to the estate of Matthias Broyles in the amount of $73.00[2]

24 May 1843 - Jacob Hoover signed a will bequeathing slaves to his children, etc. [3]

2 Sep 1842 - Jacob marries Polly Bailey. Rutherford Co,, Tenn.?[4]

27 Oct 1845 - Suit is brought by relatives regarding Jacob's will. They ask the court to declare the will to be the last will and testament as far as personal property is concerned, but not with respect to real estate.[5] It would therefore seem that Jacob had neglected to name all heirs in his will.
