Catharine Hoover was the orphaned daughter of the "older" Sebastian and his wife Susanna Hoover. Sebastian (the younger) who married Catharine Mueller) "made bond as guardian for Sebastian and Susanna Hoover's, orphans, on Oct. 3, 1791", the full text is transcribed on page - p - of the book, "A compilation of the descendants of Sebastian Hoover of Pendleton County, VA. (W. Va.)", by Walter L. Eye.^[2]

An indenture on March 27, 1830, was made and documented^[2]for his book on page -u- states in part, "This indenture made the 27th day of March in the year one thousand eight hundred and thirteen between Jacob Hoover, Jr. Michael Hoover & Mary his wife, Jacob Hoover Henry Hoover Peter Hoover William Hoover John Hoover Samuel Hoover George Hoover Isaac Smith and Catherine his wife formerly Catherine Hoover John Waggy and Barbara his wife formerly Barbara Hoover Jacob Kions George Sevey and Elizabeth His wife formerly Elizabeth Hoover which said Jacob Henry Peter William John Samuel George Catharine Barbara and Elizabeth are children and devisers of Peter Hoover dec'd which said Peter was son of Sebastian Hoover dec'd and Sebastian Hoover and Catharine children and heirs of Sebastian Hoover the younger dec'd who was also one of the sons of Sebastian Hoover the older deceased all or lately all of the County of Pendleton and state of Virginia and Catharine Stone formerly Catharine Hoover of the County of Woodford and state of Kentucky of the one part and Thomas Hoover of the County of Pendleton and state of Virginia of the other part. ..."

Catherine Hoover`s inclusion as the daughter of Sebastian Hoover, Sr is based on information furnished by Jeff Carr of Virginia. He lists Catherine`s husband as Sebastian Stone, son of Henry Stone.

Joan Cain conducted research into her (Stone) family`s link to Sebastian Hoover and was stymied by the lack of proof that her Catherine Hoover and Sebastian Hoover were related.
