Biography

John was born in 1844. He is the son of John Hoover and Christina Hoover.

"John Henry Hoover, who was a well known retired farmer and resident of Allegheny township, died at his home in Cross Keys, Wednesday evening at 7:45 p.m. from complications of diabetes.

"Mr. Hoover was born at Middletown, Dec. 26, 1844, the son of John and Mrs. Christina(Hoover)Hoover. He was united in marriage with Miss Catherine Replogle, Feb 13, 1870, in Lawrence, Kans. To this union, twelve children were born. One son, Franklin, is deceased. He is survived by his wife and these children: Mrs. Alice Shiffler of Cross Keys; Lewis R. Hoover, and Elmer H. Hoover of Roaring Spring; Ella May Hoover of Peace Valley, Mo.; William E. Hoover of Pittsburgh; Charles W. Hoover, Mrs. Mary Brubaker, Mrs. Minne B. Brubaker, Mahlon E. Hoover, Mrs. Bertha J. Stom all of Cross Keys, and Mrs. Hattie Brubaker of Brookes Mills. He is also survived by one brother, Martin C. Hoover of Hollidaysburg and one sister Mrs Harriet Rhodes of Clover Creek. There are 62 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren." --obituary supplied by cemetery memorial
