Family lore has it that Adam was part Swiss and that the Hoovers were related to Herbert Hoover (although this has not been proven). Herbert's branch went down to Iowa when Adam and his brother went to Canada. His grandaughter, Norma, remembers Adam as being very nice.
Adam and his brother, Joe, came to Ontario when it was virgin forest and pioneered there. Norma Woods remembers her grandparents' log cabin in East Wawanosh Township. About 1900, most of the Hoovers went west to Edmunton, Alberta, Canada to homestead on 160 acres.

It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Adam by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Adam:
