I've been attempting to work on my tree elsewhere, and hope to import a GED file someday.

There are two family members who I cannot seem to find anything about, one is Walter Hoover Sr. Baltimore or Washington D.C. who married Cora Bailey Hoover and a 2nd marriage after she died 6 months after giving birth to my father. A woman by the name of Helen Hoover seems to come up as a sister in some records, but not others. I don't think Cora was old enough to have had 3 children, my father his older brother he called Howard, and Helen in her short marriage before she died - she may have been adopted by Walter Sr's 2nd marriage and is an ongoing mystery yet to be solved. Thank you for any info.

Turkey was a favorite, and stayed 3 weeks, traveling from Istanbul through the Mountains of Tarsus. Cappadocia etc. Went to Egypt 8 times. Obviously, we loved Egypt, from 2004-2018, and traveled to Guatamala and Belize to see the Pyramids there as well as Mexico's Pyramids.

Besides these trips, we went to a side trip to Jordan to see the Roman town of Jerash, The Copper Scroll form the Dead Sea collection of scrolls, from which Jordan received only 1. We visited Petra and my fav, the new UNESCO site of "Bethany on the Jordan" which became UNESCO Heritage site AFTER we left and saw it the following year. We saw some of Israel, the Dead Sea from Israel and from Jordan. Masada, the tombs, etc. it was fun while it lasted.

Finally hung up my sneakers, feeling my age.

Hello Pam: I am interested but to what extent I'm not sure as much time would need to be invested to update the tree I'm sure for I do have Civil War relatives on both sides, Union mostly and at least one or two Confederates because I am from Maryland. I'm hoping to do so this year. Thanks for checking in with me.

Hi Deborah, the US Civil War Project is conducting a Check-in for 2024 to see if your still interested/active in the Project.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you. You can click the reply button or message me with your answer. Thank you. Pam Kreutzer, Leader of the US Civil War Project

Hi again Pam: I managed to find one more today from the Union side. The other was from the Confedrates.

The Union side I think I did have on the tree but I probably need your help in putting the stamp, etc for him and properly naming him if you don't mind. Here is the information:

https://www.nps.gov/civilwar/search-soldiers.htm#sort=score+desc&q=William+Grimm

database:

https://www.nps.gov/civilwar/index.htm Grimm, William

Side: Union Location: Pennsylvania Battle Unit: 166th Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry (Drafted Militia) Function: Infantry

According to the image here on Find a Grave, William Grimm was a Corporal in the Union Army: We also have a photo of him

Hi Deborah, thank you for remaining in the Project. Do you already have a profile created for him. If you could give me his Wikitree ID, I can put a sticker on there, and add his information.

Hello Pam:

He does have an I.D. here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Grim-789

family changed the spelling somewhere along the line.

Thanks again, Deborah

Greetings Deborah, I see we are both descended from Jacob Grimm b 1791 and Mary Polly Bollinger. I have so many Grimm DNA relatives! Jane

Hi Jane: Your lovely keeping up with the Tree helps me tremendously for the Civil War era because one of the Grimm family members i.e. William Grimm (i.e my note above to Pam) will now be honored with a badge for his duty in this war on the Union side. Perhaps you can even find information about the War that I cannot locate on Ancestry. I just wanted to let you know. Perhaps Pam will help me attach the proper stamp on his name once I add him to the tree with his spouse etc. thanks to your keeping up the family :)

Hi Deborah

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hi Margaret,

Have you considered participating in WikiTree's Connect-A-Thon? It's a great opportunity to earn a new badge for adding new profiles. The next one will run from Friday, April 22nd to Monday, April 25th.

If you are interested in participating, you can sign up in the G2G forum registration post at https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1392037/have-you-registered-for-the-april-2022-connect-a-thon-yet?show=1395381#c1395381 and add another badge to your collection. They ask you to join a team, so I invite you to join the Mid-Atlantic Team since I notice you have roots in Maryland. You are not limited to adding profiles for only this region, of course. Like you, most of us have roots in many other regions and countries. Hope you'll consider joining the fun!

Hi and welcome Deborah,

We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.
