Eliza was born in 1876[1] in Driffield, Yorkshire, England, where she lived with her parents, Abraham Hope and Mary Holliday.[2]
At the time of the 1891 census Eliza worked as a domestic servant for the Dixon family in Brandesburton, Yorkshire.[3]
In 1895 she married George Robert Oxendale.[4] The family lived in Goole, Yorkshire, in 1901. George was a railway platelayer.[5]
