In 1742, when Lady Erskine was 22 years old, Francesco Barsanti, an Italian composer from Lucca in Toscany who was resident in Edinburgh from 1735 to 1743, dedicated his A Collection of Old Scot Tunes, to Lady Erskine. He may have done this because she herself had provided him with either financial or moral support, or possibly he made the dedication to curry favour with her family. The edition was published by Alexander Baillie in 1742.
