Biography
George was born in 1793. He was the son of Samuel Hopkins and Elizabeth Woodhull. FaG states that he passed away 28 Oct 1819, not possible given the birth of his daughter in 1822.
He married Elizabeth Matilda Johnson (1793-1826). Their children are:
- Samuel Johnson Hopkins b. 22 Jan 1818; m. 12 May 1845 to Mary Eliza Berrien; children George, Minnie, William
- George Gilbert Hopkins b. 22 Aug 1819-1893; m. Nov 1845 to Elizabeth Hopkins, dau. of Gen. Hopkins; children Araminta, Anna, Grace, Alozo, Alphonso.
