Arthur E. Hopkins, 78, died this morning at his home, 91 ½ Maple Ave. A retired farmer, Mr. Hopkins had been in failing health for some time.
He was born in Cortland County on May 11, 1876, the son of Ansel D. and Esther Hollenbeck Hopkins. Mr. Hopkins was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.
His survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margaret Breeds Hopkins; two daughters, Mrs. Flora H. Gibson and Mrs. Marjorie H. Jacques, both of Cortland; a son, Paul E. Hopkins, East Freetown; a sister, Mrs. Maude Metcalf, Rochester, and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Grace Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Daniel H. Ferry, rector, officiating. Interment will be in West Homer Cemetery.
Friends are asked to omit flowers. They may call at the late residence Saturday afternoon and evening.
