Sarah is the fourth child of Rev. Robert Hopkins and Agnes Carson Johnson. [1] [2]
Sarah was born in St Peter, Minnesota on March 23, 1849, She married Harleigh S. Parker, a farmer and Millwright, on July 2. 1872, at the age of 23. [3]
Together residing in the present area of Bloomington, Minnesota, they raised ten children. Their eighth son, Pvt. 1CL John Paul Parker, paid the ultimate sacrifice, when killed in action on July 28,1918, serving in France during WWI. By this time John parents were deceased.
Sarah died on October 16, 1917 at the age of 68, and outlived Harleigh by 8 years, 4 months, and 26 days.

Fun Fact: Her mother's second husband, Gideon Pond, was one of Minnesotas' earliest settlers, and credited with building the first house in the area that became Minneapolis (near Lake Calhoun). The brick home he built on the site in 1856, has been restored, and is on the National Register of Historic Places.Gideon and Agnes Pond House.
