DAR has a record for one Arthur Hopkins (Patriot Ancestor #A057923):
Arthur Hopkins born before 1743 in Goochland County, died "A" 9 September 1776[2] in Pittsylvania County, married Judith Jefferson & son Samuel married Elizabeth Daniel.[3]
Note that only children with a descendant who joined the DAR are listed; most patriot ancestors had much larger families than indicated by their DAR record.

↑ In the main record of a DAR Patriot Ancestor, DAR usually spells out "ANTE" when it means "before". I think that this "A" in the main record means "after". One of the descendant records (which do use "a" to mean ANTE) has "a 9-26-1776", which matches the probate date. Perhaps 9 September is the date his will was written?

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Arthur by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Arthur:
Hopkins-242 and Hopkins-4641 appear to represent the same person because: please take another look. these were set as rejected but the birth and death info is the same and nothing in their profiles indicate a reason to believe they're different people (unless you think one is father of the other? DAR for husband of Judith has his birth "before 1743" - but I think that it would be more likely his father would have been born closer to 1720 or earlier).
