Biography

Born Alice was born in 1904 ^[1]. She was the daughter of Harry Hopkinson and Minnie Webster.
In 1911 ^[2] Alice (7) was living with her parents, Harry (31) "miner" and Minnie (26) and her siblings Minnie (3) and Annie (1) at 3 CT Main Rd Intake, Handsworth, Sheffield.

Marriage In 1926 Alice married Thomas H Lumley b1900 in Bentford Middlesex ^[3]. Their only child, Betty Mary Lumley, was born in 1928 in Sheffield ^[4].
Thomas died of TB in 1930 ^[5].

Marriage In 1933 Alice married Walter Wilson in Sheffield ^[6]. Their son, Roy, was born in 1934 ^[7].

Died Alice died age 30 in 1934 ^[8] as the result of injuries sustained after being hit by a car whilst crossing the road ^[9]. It was reported she threw baby Roy to safety into a hedge; he received only minor injuries.
Alice was buried on 13 December 1934 in grave no. 14042 in Section MM of City Road Cemetery. Also buried there are Walter Wilson's first wife, Beatrice, his daughter Doris and granddaughter June; he was also buried there in 1942 ^[10].

Betty was cared for by her grandparents Harry and Minnie Hopkinson whereas Roy grew up with foster parents in Sheffield ^[11].
