DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:
On FamilySearch there is a Mary Hopper, LXQB-J6J, born 20 aug 1734 in Colony of Virginia and died 1798 in Maryland. She is listed as the daughter of William Hopper and Mary Ann Wright. She is shown as marrying Colonel Joseph Nicholson (1709-1787) in 1754 in Edgewater, Anne Arundel, Maryland. This record shows 3 children of this marriage: Mary, Henrietta, Henreitta (the children may be from on of his prior marriages). Mary has a sister Elizabeth, born in 1739, who for some reason is shown as a "HOOPER", her ID is GHVD-VYJ. Both show the same father, William Deacon Hopper. Somewhere I found a paper document listing Elizabeth as also marrying Col Joseph Nicholson. I cannot find this document (early Maryland families or something), right now, but will continue to look for it again. Maybe this info can get someone started on Mary & Elizabeth.
