Gilbert Lauder's first wife, probably of the Hopper of Bourhouse family, near Dunbar, the superiority of which was held by the Lauder of The Bass family. The Hoppers were also Burgesses of Edinburgh and a Richard Hopper, Burgess of Edinburgh, owned a tenement on the north side of the High Street of Edinburgh circa 1500. In 1512 a Henry Hopper is noted as a Burgess of Edinburgh. This is interesting because Elizabeth's son is named Henry, an unusual Christian name in the Lauder family. She is recorded as Gilbert Lauder's wife in a Procuratory dated 9 Feb 1517.
