Biography

Joseph, born about 1822, was the youngest son of George Hornsby and Hannah Barron. In 1841 he lived at home and worked as a farmer (agricultural laborer).[1]

He married Hannah Best in 1848.[2] In 1851, they lived with their son George in Slaley, where Joseph worked as a laborer.[3] Their one-year-old son John was staying with his grandparents, John and Ann Best.[4] In 1861, Joseph, a laborer, Hannah, John (11), George (10), Ann (8) and Hannah's mother Ann Best lived on William Pitt Road (?) in Long Benton, Northumberland.[5] In 1871 Joseph & Hannah lived on William Pitt Road, with their children

Joseph died before 1881 (Hannah is recorded in the 1881 census as being a widow living in Tynemouth). [6]
