Biography
Richard was baptised 12 February 1820, in Milton Abbott, Devon, England. He was the son of Peter and Joanna Horrell of Little Langskerry. Peter was a laborer.[1]
In 1851 he was the original tenant, with a wife and two children, of 57 Westbridge Cottages, Tavistock, Devon, a group of model cottages built for the Duke of Bedford in 1850.[3] (See Westbridge Cottages)

Richard died on 22 November 1872, in Lanesboro, Berkshire, Massachusetts. He was paralyzed by a limb of a tree falling onto his head. The death record lists his father as William Horrell, however the birth record takes precedence.[5]
Research Notes
1851 Richard Horrell, agricultural labourer, 31, Charlotte (née Cazer) 37, James 9, William Squire 9. They had married in 1848 in Tavistock. James was really illegitimate and Cayzer. When James married in 1860 at the age of 18 as Cayzer his father is given as Richard Dunstone, carpenter
1860 James married Elizabeth Cock.
In 1861 the parents were in Ford Street with two more children. William Squires was back living with his parents in Milton Abbot.
James & Elizabeth emigrated after 1862 when their first child was born in Tavistock. Charlotte emigrated. When did Richard?
1870 James and Elizabeth were in New York state. He was a miner. Richard and Charlotte were in Lanesboro, Berkshire County, Massachusetts.
1880 James and wife and mother Charlotte were in New York state. Richard had died as Charlotte as a widow. James was a farmer.
1881 William in MA. He died in 1884
James died before 1901 in New York. Charlotte died 1893 in New York. Elizabeth died 1911
