Jesse was enlisted into the Civil War for the State of Michigan on November 29th, 1861. He was on the Union side, the 14th Regiment of the Michigan Infantry, Company F. He was a Fifer. According to records, he was mustered January 7th, 1862. He was wounded in action in July of 1864. He was honorably discharged March 27th, 1865.[1]
