John Horton was born on December 12, 1799, in Bedford, Bedfordshire, England. He married Cecelia Shailes on October 22, 1827, in Worcester, Worcestershire, England. They had at least one child during their marriage. He died on September 19, 1889, having lived a long life of 89 years.
