Biography
"Mama was born Adeline Poepe Hose in Lahaina where her father Richard Pikao Hose was with the Board of Water Works there. His tale of helping the sheriff capturing a 'woman hermit' on Lanai was hair-raising to us as children, and I still picture a wild woman with unkept gray hair, long claws and wild eyes. "
