Biography

John Hoskins was born 24 day, 12 month 1699/1700 [24 February 1699/1700].[1][2] On 19 May 1780 John Huskins purchased 199 acres in Guilford County, North Carolina, from Bennet Bradford and wife Margarate.[3] He was deceased by 2 June 1784 when the marriage certificate of Moses Hoskins and Ruth Hodson listed Moses as the son of John Hoskins, deceased, of Guilford County and Hannah his wife.[4][5]

The tract of John was apparently inherited by his son Joseph, and many early Gui;ford County probate records are missing. On 15 August 1791 Joseph Haskins sold to Moses Haskins, the same 199 acre tract that John had purchased in 1780.[6]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
