Obituary

William "Bill," 81, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at the Presbyterian Home, Johnstown. Born Oct. 7, 1927, in Barnesboro, son of Stanley "Budd" Houck and Leona (Borchardt) Houck. Predeceased by parents. Survived by wife of 38 years (together 46), Audrey Jane (Haines) Houck; and daughters, Amy Lu Jeschonek, married to Jason James Jeschonek, Johnstown, and JoHanna Hergenrider, married to Steve Hergenrider, Montana. Also survived by his adoring grandchildren, Ashley and Brandon Jeschonek; sister, Betty (Houck) Lyons, Ebensburg; nieces, Linda Lou and Patty; and nephew, Jim. William was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He worked as a teacher and was a Bethlehem Steel retiree and a Johnstown City Hall redevelopment employee. Bill was a great man and wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed going to the beach, fishing, working around the house, gardening, his animals, especially "Nipper," real estate, and most of all, enjoyed spending time with the joy of his life, his grandchildren. A member of First Presbyterian Church, Johnstown, where he was an active member of the deacons, elders, choir, Carl Fishers men's group and the Genevans. Friends received from 2-4 and 6-8 Monday, July 27, 2009, at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., Johnstown, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2009, the Rev. Alice Plotts and the Rev. Bruce Cadenhead presiding. Entombment, Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown, PA. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Windber Hospice in his honor or the Cambria County Humane Society.
