Thank you for the comment on Mary Jain Goodwin. I, too, have a copy of Max Doan's book, as well as both volumes of John Doane and His Descendants. I have seen the census record you referred to, also, and believe it to be our Mary Jane, but I have no real proof that it is. Family Lore has it that they met because she was working in the kitchen of a hotel where he delivered produce from the farm he worked on but no locations were passed down. What I find interesting is that my paternal grandmother was from the same general area of Ontario that this Mary Jane was (Strathroy-Caradoc)--they lived in West Williams Twp but got their mail in Strathroy.

Hi Mike, Although Esther Surprise does have Genevieve as her middle name, her

Parents: Eugene Suprise (1867 - 1947) Mary Suprise (1873 - 1949) are not Edward Isaac Suprise and Virginia Girard

I do not know if your George Maillet is the same person as George Andrew Malliet (1889 - 1971) but I'm thinking not. I think you will have to look into it further.
