James was born in 1901in Cardiff Wales. James Edward Mothers maiden name was DAVIES [1] [2]

In 1911 James was living with his parents William Hough and Rachel Davies in Awre, Gloucestershire. Also living with him were his brothers William John age 16, Frederick age 14, Ernest age 7 and newly born Thomas Henry and his sister Florence age 12 and cousin Dorothy Hough age 12. James father was the GWR( Great Western Railway) Stationmaster at the local railway station in Awre Gloucestershire Wikipedia:Awre_for_Blakeney_railway_station:[3]

In 1928 James married Charlotte Winifred Kibble in Baptist Chapel Lydbrook Gloucestershire[4]

On the 1939 Register James is living in Kington Herefordshire with his wife and daughters and is working as a GWR Signalman[5].His daughters are Dorothy Eileen, Kathleen Elisabeth, and Winifred Joyce. James was not conscripted during WWII as he was employed as a railway stationmaster, which was a Reserved Occupation. [6]

From 1939 until his death James continued working on the railway and raising is daughters and in later years enjoyed his grandchildren visiting him. His grandson Stephen Paul Davies remembers visiting and his grandfather playing the piano and singing to him. Also his grandfathers love of reading and the books in his living room and also his love of playing records to him. Stephen also said his grandfather use to sing in Welsh a lot being a native Welshman.

James died in Lydbrook, Gloucestershire in 1975[7]
