Searched Lancashire OPC for christening and marriage without success. There is a burial record for a Rave Houghton 1587 Prescot, Lancashire, England Hardman-1532 19:03, 14 August 2020 (UTC)

Check the research notes I added to Houghton-16. Keep in mind when researching that the name could be Rafe / Rauffe / Radulphus / Radi or other variants and any of those could be Anglicized to "Ralph". Plus, last name spellings varied and "Hoghton", "Houghton" and "Haughton" could refer to the same family. As far as this particular family, in looking through some of what seems like a mountain of records they left behind, it seems that over time the name was more uniformly spelled "Hoghton" and earlier there was more variation.
