With wife Sarah Jane, b. Feb 1840, age 60, married 38 yrs., mother of 1, 1 now living. B. Illinois, parents b. Ohio. Daughter Alba Franklin, b. Oct 1860, age 29, married 9 yrs., b. IL, father b. KY, mother b. IL.. Son in law John B. Franklin, b. Sep 1864, age 35, married 9 yrs., b. Texas, parents b. Tenn. (Contractor?) granddaughter Ada L. Franklin, b. Jan 1892, age 8, single, b. California, father b. Texas, mother b. IL. and housekeeper Louise Fraser. ^[3]

Note that this record has Alba born before her parents' marriage. But if she were 29 years old in 1900, she would have to have been born around 1870, not 1860. Also, in 1900 she was married for 9 years, which would make the marriage in 1891. Her daughter Ada was born in Jan 1892, which also fits a later birth date for Alba.

• Trankly, Virginia L. Daughter Female White 18 Single b. Calif., father b. Ill., mother b. Texas (note: birthplaces of her parents are reversed; her father was b. in Texas, and her mother in Ill.). No occupation.

Heritage Quest online indexed the surname under Trankley, but it's written Trankly, and I wonder if it's some corruption of Franklin. There are no males indexed under Trankly in the 1910 Census, and of the three indexed under Trankley, two are in Pa., and one in Indiana. ^[4]
