Leah was born January 7, 1817 in Fairfield County, Ohio. There is no known birth, baptismal, or court record naming Leah as a daughter of John H Houser and Dorothy Funk. Her birth date is known from census data and her gravestone. Evidence indicating her parents is found in Ohio Fairfield County Probate Estate Packets, Cases 4475-4539, 1819–1886^[1]
