Joseph Houston was born about 1790.
Josephy married Elizabeth Brandon on June 8, 1814, in Rowan County, North Carolina. They were farmers. He died about 1840, most likely in North Carolina.
Joseph was most likely the son of James and Elizabeth Houston, who both died in Rowan County, North Carolina. Evidence for this parentage: 1) After his death, Joseph's sister, Sophia Houston, lived with his wife, Elizabeth (1850 census); Sophia was listed as the head of household. 2) In the 1860 census, Elizabeth lived next to Margaret Barr Houston, widow of John Houston and probably Joseph's brother.
