He owned property in Maryland that later became part of Broad Creek Hundred, Sussex, Delaware. Some of the land passed to a grandson named Leonard, who was not the child of Robert Houston.
Research Notes
Gedcom import data shows 1668 marriage to Grace Benson in Carteret, NJ. This is impossible for this profile, who would have been a child. Possibly belongs to a different John Houston, a relatively common name.
Need to find other son who was the father of Leonard Houston.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
Huston-517 and Houston-754 appear to represent the same person because: Huston/Houston are variant spellings of each other -- common in the 18th century and earlier. the two men have the same birth date and place, parents names (the surname of mother Grace appears to be speculative), date and place of death.
I think the place of death is not correct, as a will was probated in 1755 in Old Augusta County Virginia colonies. I do not thinks this Houston is a part of the previous direct line. Any help is appreciated
Please check google for the lineage for General Sam Houston of Texas fame. He was of the line of John Houston and Margaret Cunningham (Houston). General Sam was born in Timber Ridge in what is now Rockbridge County. There is a marker to that fact at the church.
The son of Robert and Grace was born 2 Feb 1668 in Maryland. There are NO SAR records that match the dates/parents shown on this profile. This profile appears to be a mixture of several men.
I am also curious(and have quesstions as it does not seem to go along
with data from Samuel Houston and it seemed to come along with a merging along the way. I am going to meet with Debi to improve my skills in correcting some of these.
ok We need some geni assistance There was a John Houson in Ireland who married a Margaret McClung, they had issue John who maried a Margaret Cunningham(also in Ireland) It was he who came to the colonies with 6 children. Then there was another generation, John b 1726 -d ca 1800 (born in Ireland),who married Sarah Mariah Todd. From this family of Houstons(John who married Margaret Cunningham) came General Sam??. Anyone who can straighten me out? My proven records take me through John who married Mariah Todd and his father John who married Cunningham.
The profile states John McClung Houston was born in Ireland around 1683 and married in Ireland in 1706. However, his parents are stated to have been living in Pennsylvania. Later in the profile it states he was born in Philadelphia.
I have a question about John Huston (Huston-517) and Margaret Cunningham's marriage. Although they both appear to have been born in the colonies, the marriage data says they married about 1706 in Ireland. I am curious about this. Where in Ireland and why did they go back once they had emigrated?
with data from Samuel Houston and it seemed to come along with a merging along the way. I am going to meet with Debi to improve my skills in correcting some of these.
THEIR son, Samuel Huston, b. 1704, d. 15 Sept. 1784, m. Isabella Sharon
