Obituary

Kermit Dolvin Hovden was born May 15, 1952, in Spring Valley, MN. He was the eldest son of the late Emmeth (Bud) Hovden and Gwenlyn (Miland) Hovden. Kermit peacefully passed away on December 24, 2014, at his home at the Spring Valley Care Center in which he had resided for the past four years.

Kermit lived in Spring Valley, MN with his parents his entire life until moving to the Care Center. He attended Spring Valley Public Schools, Stewartville Public Schools and the Day Activity Center in Preston, MN. He was confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Spring Valley and was a current member.

During his lifetime Kermit loved dogs, playing guitar, singing and eating his mama’s home-cooked meals. Kermit made several latch-hook pieces and received Grand Champion Awards from the Fillmore County Fair Board on some of his pieces.

Kermit never met a stranger and put a smile on anyone’s face who met him. He was definitely an Angel that God shared with us on earth. He was kind, gentle, happy and a very handsome man.

Kermit was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Gwen, his sister Sonja, his brother, Robbin, his grandparents, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Kermit’s surviving family include: his brothers and sisters; Larry (Lynnette) Hovden of Owatonna, Ronda (Jerry) Steinkamp of Grand Meadow, Rick Hovden of Austin, and Roxanne (Brent) Hellickson of Spring Valley. His nephews and nieces; Joshua (Jodi) Hovden, Gabriel (Crystal) Hovden, Jacob (Lisa) Hovden, Adam (Sarah) Hovden, Sami (Jaliza) Hovden, Vannesa (Jason) Kubicek, Susie (Chris) Flemming, Jason Steinkamp, Jodi Steinkamp, Annie (Steve) Stensrud, Rosilyn (Violet) Steinkamp, Jennifer (Jason) Jordan, Justin (Erin) Hellickson, Mikaylah Hellickson, and several great nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his best friend, Jerry Douglas and two Aunts; Betty (Hovden) Holmquist and Dana (Hovden) Loy, and one uncle/aunt, Dolvin (Donna) Miland.

Funeral services for Kermit will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Spring Valley, MN. There will be a reviewal at 10:00 followed by the services at 11:00. Kermit will be buried at Our Savior's Cemetery in Spring Valley, MN [1]
