Biography

Polly married David Chamberlin in Connecticut; and settled in Hatley, Canada, in 1794.

She was burned to death at her flax wheel, in 1836. It was thought that a spark from the fire on the hearth might have set on fire the inflammable pile of flax around her.

Mr. Chamberlin died in 1847. Their children were as follows: 1. Olive', married John S. Merry. 2. Ira, married Mary Erwin. 3. David, married Thankful Whitcomb. 4. Polly, born Jan. 20, 1799, in Hatley; married Abel B., son of Jonathan Johnson ; and removed to Magog in 1832. They had four children, one of whom was Edwin R. Johnson, a brilliant lawyer. 5. Arvilla, married George, son of Dr. William Oliver. 6. Matilda, married Arthur Johnson. 7. William, married Ester Abbott. 8. Fanny, married John Emory. 9. Lucy, married Lyman Rexford. 10. Sylvia, married Calvin Abbott. 11. Sarah, married John Sweeney. 12. Aaron, married and settled in the West.
