Orpha "Orphy" Caroline Howard was born on May 14, 1838, in Onslow County, North Carolina. She married Charles Cox on February 23, 1860, in Onslow County, North Carolina. They had one child during their marriage; Sarah C. Koonce. She died on April 9, 1896, in Onslow County, North Carolina, at the age of 57, and was interred at Koonce Cemetery, Richlands, Onslow County, North Carolina.
