Lady Essex and her husband Baron Edward Griffin were loyal to King James II and an order was issued for their arrest on 22 Oct 1689. Lady Essex was captured and sent to the Tower. She died between 1705 and 1710.
It is not yet known when Essex died but she was still alive on 31 January 1705 and had died before her husband died in 1710.
