Biography

William Howard was born in Appalachia, in Tennessee.

WILLIAM HOWARD; born 15 Apr 1816 in White county, Tennessee, United States;

United States Census 1820[1], 1830[2]: During this period we track William by his age living with his father in Tennessee. William was a blacksmith and farmer by trade.

5 Sep 1839[3] William married Maragriet Malinda Alzina Haston in White, Tennessee, United States, daughter of Joseph Haston and Sarah Ann Criely.

United States 1840 Census[4] we find William and his new wife living nearby to Isaac in Warren, Tennessee. No children are listed for the couple during this time frame.

United States 1850 Census[5] William and Malinda are living in Van Buren, Tennessee and have (5) five children in their home. Eliza J, Isaac M, Martha C, Joseph H, and James A

William and Malinda added four (4) children to their household in the 1850’s, the twins Mortimore, Morgania, John, and Thos F.

25 Jul 1859, William passed away from flux, leaving Malinda a widow. Malinda and the children lived most of the 1860's in Tennessee before relocating.

Unites States 1860 Census[6] Malinda is living without her husband in Tennessee. Sometime in 1869/70 the family along with most of the children began the journey to a new home and settled in Yell, Arkansas, United States. Not sure why the family decided to relocate during that period, but records show a large portion of Malinda's immediate family also arrive in Arkansas during the same time period. We do know Malinda and family arrived sometime prior to Nov 1873, shortly after their arrival two of her children marry.
