Biography

Elizabeth was the daughter of [Howard-937|Peter Howard]] and Sarah Strictland. She was born about 1804 in Montgomery County, Virginia.

In 1825, she married Thomas Banks.

Her mother's will (1845) left bequests to her daughter, Elizabeth Banks, and to her granddaughter (Elizabeth's daughter), Sarah Banks.

Research Notes

The marriage record for Elizabeth shows her as under age 21 as of 19 Jan 1825, suggesting her birth in 1804 or later.

The Montgomery Co. Virginia marriage register shows Elizabeth Howard to be under the age of 21 on her marriage to Thomas Banks on January 19, 1825 so the above birth years of either 1792 or 1797 are not correct. Thomas Banks is 21, soon to be 22 in February, 1825. Although possible, it doesn't seem likely he would be marrying a woman 28 to 33 years of age.

have changed to 1804 uncertain. I agree that the 12 year age gap between spouses is improbable, but the gap in years between Elizabeth's siblings and herself now raises an eyebrow as well.
