Edward was born in 1829.

The 1890 veterans' census indicates he suffered from a head wound and nervousness.

A later recruit into Company A of the 105th I Ohio Volunteer Infantry on January 24, 1864 at age 35 as Private. He was transferred on July 12, 1865 to Company K of the 38th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. [1]
